Web Application Development in Poole, Dorset

Content management, e-commerce, online bookings, and bespoke web applications — built to work hard for your business.

Most websites today do far more than display a handful of static pages. Whether you need customers to be able to buy from you online, book appointments, submit enquiries, or manage their own accounts, the right web application can transform your website from a brochure into a genuinely useful business tool.
At BMB Web Design, we’ve been designing and developing web applications since the late 1990s. Over that time, our back of the envelope calculations suggest systems we’ve built have been responsible for generating more than £55,008,542 in online business for our clients — and counting.

What we can build

E-commerce stores

If you want to sell products or services online, we can build you a store that’s easy for your customers to use and straightforward for you to manage. We work with platforms including Magento, OpenCart and WooCommerce (WordPress), and can advise on which is the right fit for your business and budget.

Content management systems

A CMS lets you update your own website content without needing to touch any code. We build on WordPress — the world’s most widely used CMS — as well as other platforms including Joomla. If you have an existing CMS site that needs development work or upgrading, we can help with that too.

Bespoke web applications

Sometimes an off-the-shelf platform isn’t the right answer. We’ve designed and built a wide range of custom solutions over the years, from bespoke content management systems to online booking systems for property and hospitality businesses. If you have an idea for something specific, get in touch and we’ll talk through what’s involved.

Enquiry and contact forms

Even a simple, well-built enquiry form can make a significant difference to the number of leads your website generates. We build forms that are easy to use, spam-resistant, and set up to deliver enquiries exactly where you need them.

Existing platforms we support

Already running a site on an older platform and need development work, upgrades or ongoing support? We have experience with a wide range of systems including:

  • WordPress
  • Magento
  • WooCommerce
  • OpenCart
  • Joomla
  • osCommerce
  • X-CART

If your platform isn’t listed here, it’s still worth getting in touch — chances are we’ve come across it before.

Why work with BMB Web Design?

We’re not a large agency with layers of project managers between you and the person actually writing the code. When you work with us, you deal directly with Brian — a developer with more than 25 years of hands-on experience building web applications for businesses of all sizes, from small local companies to household names.

That means faster decisions, clearer communication, and a finished product that genuinely reflects what you asked for — not what got lost in translation somewhere along the way.

We’re based in Poole and work with clients across Dorset, Hampshire and beyond.

How do I know which platform is right for my project?
That depends on your requirements, your budget, and how you’ll use the system day-to-day. We’ll always discuss your needs in detail before recommending anything — and we’ll recommend what’s genuinely right for you, not what’s easiest for us to build.
Can you work with a site that was built by someone else?
Yes, absolutely. We regularly take on development projects for sites originally built by other developers. We’ll review the existing code first to understand what we’re working with, and then we can discuss what’s involved in making the changes you need.
Can you upgrade or migrate an older platform?
Yes — this is something we’re asked about regularly, particularly for older osCommerce, Joomla and Magento sites. Upgrading an ageing platform can significantly improve your site’s security, speed and search engine performance. Get in touch and we’ll assess what’s involved.
How long does a development project take?
It varies considerably depending on complexity. A straightforward enquiry form might take a few hours; a full e-commerce build could take several weeks. We’ll give you a realistic timeline before any work starts, and keep you updated throughout.
